Angela Siracusa, was born in Toronto, Ontario before the internet was a household must. Raised in a large Italian musical family, Angela toured in her teens with her brothers and it was apparent from an early age that Angela was meant to be an entertainer with an edge. Modest and conservative, Angela tried her hand in the corporate world of marketing and sales for twelve years. After a successful business tenure, she applied her business savvy knowledge to the music business. Siracusa quit her day job and began a full time career that she says is what she wants to do till the day she dies. Over the last 5 years Angela has made a name for herself and is respected in many musical circles for not only her talent, but her ability to inspire and motivate others. She divides her time between Ontario and Nashville, performing and recording in the Music Capital of the world. It's a place she calls her second home and the inspiration for many of her songs.
“I love Nashville and it's spirit. I'm constantly inspired by the people I meet and see performing. The talent is everywhere and there is nothing else to do but be humbled by it and learn from those that have paved the way. Maybe it's the sweat left behind from the legends but what I've learned first and foremost is to have the attitude of a willing student when I cross that city line. There are so many talented people, young to old that are there for the same reason. A chance to be seen and heard and make a mark even if the mark touches thousands and not hundred of thousands, I'm content. I have been fortunate to learn from the best. Success for me is personal, I don't compare myself to others but I do analyse my own growth and constantly challenge myself to be the best I can be. A zipped lip, an open ear and willing attitude benefits me. In Nashville there is always someone who is unbelievably talented that I can turn to for advice and direction."
Apart from being an award-winning Nashville recording artists and an entertainer with an edge, Angela is an entertainment correspondant for Dreamwest Magazine in France, a host of her weekly open mic; a vocal coach and to add one more iron in the fire, Siracusa has been developing her own cooking show called, Angela Feeds the Band. Whizbang Films of Canada, known for its release of the blockbuster film Passchendaele has taken interest in developing her innovative cooking show. Although her cooking show is in the pilot stage, it's an iron that can take the heat and has spurred other networking possibilites. Angela's cooking show guests include, Serena Pryne, Grammy award winner, Allanah Myles and also Canada's beloved "Polka King" and three time Grammy award winner, Walter Ostanek. Angela was later invited to include 4 songs on a compilation album with Walter Ostanek and the Toasted Western Swing Band titled, Roots 66.
Angela's solo career has proven to be fruitful. She credits a lot of her opportunities by immersing herself in the Nashville community of songwriters. Her first Nashville friend and then manager Ken Kahler, who introduced Angela to many of his successful musician friends, songwriters and producers. Kahler called up a few friends and after hearing Siracusa voice, she was offered cuts for her album, Drawn to the Flame. A project from 2007 that still reaps rewards and offers credibilty that Angela is the whole package.
She was chosen as the featured community artist on CMT.com, recorded a duet with Walter Egan who was known for his hit, Magnet & Steel; a song he told Siracusa was inspired by his relationship with Stevie Nicks. In 2008 Egan joined Siracusa for 9 shows and ended the tour with a bang, performing on the long running Nashville show called the Billy Block Show. Angela's a fire ball of energy on stage. Delivering a star performance time and time again. Performing to many audiences across the nation, appearing on shows with artists such as Sammy Kershaw, Raul Malo, Hal Ketchum, Marty Raybon, The Stellas, Walter Egan, Walter Ostanek, and The Roadhammers. Some of her favourite shows to date have been with her dear friends and music confidants, David Church and Terri Church. David Church is Mid West Countries most watched and requested artist; boasting a weekly viewership over two million. Siracusa lived in Nashville in 2010 and was asked to join the Church's tour that took her to the RFDTV theatre in Branson, Missouri, Shenandoah Caverns in Virginia, Franklin Pennsylvania and Zanesville, Ohio. David's fans welcomed Angela into their tight knit country loving community. "I love it, they tell it like it is and their southern charm is infectious." There is no doubt that 2012 will be another year of touring for Siracusa.
After releasing four albums, winning country artist of the year at the NMA's and earning award nominations, Angela has plenty of knowledge to share. “Writing songs is the one thing I am most passionate about, it is my life." Recently, Angela was asked to join the team at The Music Depot; who after 18 years of providing services such as teaching guitar, drum and piano lessons, is expanding their program and offering their students the opportunity to write and perform their own songs. The new three month songwriting program will be taught to students one on one by Siracusa.
Being a lover of collaboration and having years of experience in a band setting, Angela decided to start her own band in 2008 called Sweet Diezel. Over the years she has worked with a few different artists under the name Sweet Diezel. After performing locally and in Nashville it was time for Sweet Diezel to head into the studio and record originals. In 2010, the first album was released titled, Sweet Diezel. The album showcased Angela's original works; a total of nine songs that she collaborated with cowriters, Ken Kahler, Sheriff Cusic, Steve Fortin and Dean Malton to name a few. Recorded partly in Nashville and Niagara Falls, the release is still one of her favorite music projects to date.
Her new music partners for Sweet Diezel are Sarah Boulton and Jeff Brown. Angela and Sarah joined forces in March 2011 and the pair have made some strides, winning the Niagara Talent Search for 2011 and also winning the CMT Music Festival contest in August 2011. Ian Faiers, Angela's Business and Music manager entered the band in the contest and after weeks of voting on Facebook, Sweet Diezel returned the most “Like” votes. The prize granted VIP passes and the opportunity to perform at the 3 day festival alongside some of their favorite country aritsts such as, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flats, Blake Shelton, Ronnie Dunn and Sarah Evans. The trio recently released a live off the floor cd with their 5 originals, produced by Juno winner, Steve Bigas of Porcelain Records in Hamilton, Ontario. As a duo or a trio, Sweet Diezel is recognized for it's powerful harmonies and clever originals. The band website is www.SweetDiezel.com.
A solo career, a band, a vocal coach, a cooking show host, a weekly Open Mic host; keeping busy doing what she loves is a must for Siracusa. As long as it involves the love of the arts and music she's in with both feet. That's why she said yes when asked to join the team at Dreamwest in 2008. Angela is also a featured music columnist for the well respected French magazine which recently joined forces with and is now affiliated with Big Kenny T.V. This could make 2012's CMA Music Festival another adventure to remember.
Siracusa has enjoyed interviewing many country stars and Vip's. To name a few, Sugarland, Rodney Atkins, George Canyon & the mayor of Nashville, Karl Dean.
Angela hosts a weekly open mic every Sunday at The Golden Pheasant in St.Catharines, Ontario. Since it began in November 2010, Angela has had over 220 artists showcasing their talent on her stage. A stage that encourages, inspires and offers networking possibilities for everyone involved.
